Simon Warner was a lecturer in popular music at the University of Leeds in the UK. A former rock journalist – he was a reviewer with the Guardian from 1992-95 – he is also Director of PopuLUs, the university’s Centre for the Study of the World’s Popular Musics. His publications include Rockspeak: The Language of Rock and Pop (Blandford, 1996), Text and Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll: The Beats and Rock Culture (Bloomsbury, 2014), Kerouac on Record: A Literary Soundtrack (Bloomsbury, 2018) and a chapter in Remembering Woodstock (Ashgate, 2004). He blogs on issues relating to literature and music.
